We will return!
Jackal’s Roleplay is making its return, this time for the next generation of GTA. While our most
recent name was Highground, we’re going back to our roots as Jackal’s Roleplay (JRP), a name
that
reflects the originality and authenticity that set us apart from the beginning. When GTA 6
support becomes available, JRP will be back stronger than ever with even higher quality
roleplay, custom-built scripts, dedicated staff, and a more immersive experience from day one.
We're starting early, laying the groundwork now based on four years of insight, feedback, and
lessons learned. Every system, rule, and feature will be carefully planned and refined ahead of
time, so when launch day arrives, JRP won’t just be ready, we’ll be leading the way.
- JACKAL & eXPORT & THE JRP STAFF.
Message From Jackal:
We’ve done this before, three times.
The first? It was raw. Packed servers, crazy stories, real energy. But behind the curtain, the staff wasn’t built to last. So I shut it down.
Second time, Jackal and Export took the wheel together. Things clicked, better structure, solid team, wild RP. But in the end, the community changed, and we didn’t like where it was going. So we walked.
The third? It wasn’t planned, but we tried again. The staff was locked in, the community was rebuilding, the vibe was real. But the traffic? It never hit like before.
Yeah, we’ve stepped away. We’ve shut the doors. But now, there’s no pressure. No deadlines. Just time.
Time to plan.
Time to build.
Time to make something 10x better, and 10x more worth it.
No one knows what GTA 6 and the modding scene will really look like. But when it’s ready, we’ll be there.
Not chasing the hype. Not rushing the comeback.
Just putting in the work, and sticking around this time.
Jackal’s Roleplay. Back when it matters most.

The History of Jackal's Roleplay
Jackal's Roleplay 1.0
The Beginning
Jackal’s Roleplay 1.0 was the beginning, an unrefined but critical first step. With base scripts in place and systems still forming, Jackal focused on learning the fundamentals through trial and error. Coming from a web development background and still in school, he took on every role he could, learning the technical and operational sides of running a roleplay server firsthand.
As ideas slowed, understanding deepened. This phase marked the transition from experimentation to experience, revealing the need for stronger structure and dedicated administration. During this time, Hash and KingKoda stepped up to support the server by assisting with administrative duties, helping bring in early foot traffic, and testing systems as they evolved. Their involvement helped stabilize the foundation and proved that Jackal’s Roleplay had real potential.
Jackal's Roleplay 1.5
Finding Structure
Jackal’s Roleplay 1.5 marked the first real sense of stability. With a clearer understanding of the framework in use, Jackal began identifying and resolving major issues that had surfaced during the initial launch. Performance improved, systems became more reliable, and player traffic slowly started to grow.
However, with a small admin team of just two, it became clear that something was missing... leadership on the administrative side to help streamline operations and improve the overall flow of the server. This is when Export entered the picture. Introduced to Jackal by KingKoda, Export brought experience in administration and roleplay as a whole. After a short conversation, Jackal knew he had found the right person to step in as Head Admin.
Alongside this shift, in-city business owners began to emerge, helping players stay active and turning casual sessions into a growing in-city community. Jackal’s Roleplay was no longer just running, it was starting to thrive.
Jackal's Roleplay 2.0
The Big Wave
Jackal’s Roleplay 2.0 is remembered as the big wave. This phase brought in a surge of new faces, many of whom are still part of the community today. Lifetime friendships were formed, unforgettable roleplay moments were created, and long-term staff members, developers, and contributors began to emerge.
With the rapid influx of players, the server’s existing hardware could no longer keep up. Performance issues became unavoidable, and another major change was needed. This is when Koolaid and Fear stepped in. Koolaid assisted Jackal in migrating the server to dedicated hardware that Jackal personally purchased, dramatically improving stability and performance.
This upgrade marked the start of something special. Jackal’s Roleplay was no longer just surviving growth, it was evolving to support it.
Jackal's Roleplay
The Big Melt
Originally, this version was called Jackal's Roleplay 6.9.420. With that came a massive update, one that you could call a face-lift. From UI changes to new scripts, a lot was done. Things were going pretty smoothly, but we noticed an issue server-side, so we decided to take a day to update the server on Linux. In the process, our database backup wasn't properly taken, and we lost everything... lots of data, lots of custom database work, etc. After a night of attempting to recover, we decided to use this opportunity to rebuild what we had on ESX. It took a month, but we were able to rebuild, convert, and reimagine everything within a month’s time. Once reopened, things went pretty smoothly.
With this new build, we tried going with a more realistic economy. It sounded good, but it was poorly executed. Being known as a fun server where anyone could hop on and acquire anything with little effort became a grind fest. With many complaints, Jackal took matters into his own hands and started making “ghost updates” to how payments were handled. Eventually, everything leveled out, and the economy was no longer an issue.
But that wasn’t really the problem. The problem was at a staff level. For months, the staff team was constantly clashing and always fighting. Eventually, it got so bad that the decision to shut the server down entirely was made. Jackal and Export realized it wasn’t what they had imagined, so they shut it down.
We had an amazing base of players during this time. We didn’t want staff-level issues leaking into the player level, which they tended to do.
JRP
The Great Restart
JRP. This was a beautiful time. Five months after closing, Jackal's Roleplay returned, but after remembering people referring to it as JRP, we decided to roll with that. With this, Export joined as co-owner. All new staff, one developer. Things were simple again. They ditched the old ESX and original QB server and rebuilt on QB. This time around, there were more custom scripts, unique experiences, and a lot more content. Cho was brought onto the creative team much stronger this time and absolutely killed it! Lots of new players joined, and additional custom content was added.
Around ten months later, things started to take a turn. The community we had built began to fade, with a lot of new people thinking they “had the keys” and the final say, pushing some players away and creating tension.
Eventually, Jackal and Export noticed they were no longer building for the core community, but for a group creating negative experiences for others. After months of drama, they decided it was the final straw. They closed the server and, this time, also deleted their Discord. This was supposed to be it.
Highground Roleplay
So close, but yet so far
After constant requests to bring back JRP, Export & Jackal folded. But this time, it was called Highground. Using the JRP base, they brought back the server. Jackal dove very deep into custom scripts once again, but this time he was taking everything and making it his own. From house robberies, drug processing, black markets, business handlers, and more, he was pumping out content every day. This was by far the most solid when it came to stability, functionality, and creativity. He got a social media team together, which brought in a lot of foot traffic... but there’s always something. Eventually, the foot traffic stopped.
Scripts were being created daily, staff was working really well together, and players were getting along... but this time we couldn’t get new ones.
After very low population, the money being spent to support the server didn’t make sense anymore. Highground was shut down.
Jackal's Roleplay
Something Permanent, Our Promise.
There won't be name changes, there won't be new versions, there won't be closures, there will just be Jackal's Roleplay.
From each attempt we took in more information, had new experiences, learned what works and what
doesn't.
Grow like we did in 2.0.
Listen to the community like we did in Jackal's
Roleplay
6.9.420.
Form a great staff team like we did in JRP.
Code amazing scripts, and use
social media
like we did in highground.
Jackal's Roleplay (GTA6 RP) will always be there, it won't ever go anywhere. We will adjust as we go.
